Depressed Alzheimer's Patients Show Declining Ability to Handle ActivitiesAbove and beyond the level of memory and thinking problems, patients with Alzheimer's and depression show faster declines in independence and functional ability.
 
This is the first paper to show that declines in function and cognition are inter-related, and that the presence of depression in patients living with Alzheimer's is associated with more rapid functional decline.
